Proposed HO Kit
Smoky Mountain Model Works, Inc. is actively seeking reservations for an HO scale wood chip hopper extension kit designed to fit the Broadway Limited Imports AAR 3-bay, 70-ton hopper. SAL modified and renumbered 200 hoppers in 1960. In 1969, SCL removed the extensions and reclassified them as 77-ton hoppers, followed by repainting and renumbering but retained the unique shaker brackets.
Kit parts would be designed in Solidworks software from SAL drawings, including properly sized rivets, side-mounted shaker brackets, interior details, brake wheel, brake housing, chain, and brakeman's platform, then printed in resin for maximum accuracy.
SAL modelers: all of the above parts would be included as a set.
SCL modelers: the shaker brackets would be sold separately.
This would be a unique kit that addresses SAL and SCL modelers but it will only be offered if sufficient demand from the model market justifies the effort. Please contact Jim King (jimking3@charter.net) at SMMW to place your reservation.
